BioBizz Fish-Mix bottles in every size

Quick answer: The BioBizz feed chart is a week-by-week table that tells you which BioBizz bottles to add to your water and how many millilitres per litre. There are two versions: a lighter one for All-Mix (which is already fertilised) and a stronger one for Light-Mix or Coco-Mix. You feed at the "Veg" rate for as long as your plants are growing, then count flowering weeks from the day flowers or fruit start, finishing with a week of plain water. Always pick the chart for your soil and start at the low end.

We get asked about the BioBizz chart in the shop every week. It looks busy at first, but once you know how it is laid out it is one of the easier schedules to follow. This guide walks you through it using everyday crops like tomatoes, chillies, peppers and strawberries as examples.

Where to find the official chart

BioBizz publish their nutrient schedule for free on their own website and update it from time to time. Always work from the latest official version rather than an old copy saved on your phone or a chart from a forum, because doses and products do change between editions. If you are not sure you have the current one, ask us and we will show you.

Step 1: Pick the right chart for your soil

This is the bit most people miss. BioBizz give two separate charts:

  • All-Mix chart: for BioBizz All-Mix, a rich, pre-fertilised soil. Because the soil already holds food, this chart uses less feed.
  • Light-Mix / Coco-Mix chart: for lightly fertilised soils and coco. These hold less food of their own, so the doses are higher, and BioBizz also add a seaweed tonic (Alg-A-Mic) from the growth stage.

If you grow in another lightly fertilised soil, such as Plagron Light Mix, the Light-Mix column is the closer match. Using the Light-Mix doses in All-Mix is an easy way to overfeed, so check before you mix.

Step 2: Understand the columns

Read the chart from left to right. It is split into two phases.

Veg phase: Propagation and Veg

The first two columns cover young plants and the growth stage. These are not set to a fixed number of weeks. BioBizz's own guidance is to feed at the stated rate for as long as those stages last. A chilli plant might sit in veg for several weeks; a fast salad crop may barely need it. Just keep using the Veg column until you move on.

Flowering phase: Weeks 1 to 8

Week 1 starts when your plants begin to flower or set fruit. For a tomato or pepper, that is when the first flower trusses appear. From here, follow the chart one column per week. Doses usually build up through the middle weeks, then ease off towards the end.

The final columns: water only, then harvest

After the flowering weeks, the chart shows a week of plain water with nothing added, followed by harvest. This lets the plant use up what is left in the soil. For crops you pick over a long season, like tomatoes or strawberries, treat the chart as a guide rather than a countdown and keep feeding while the plant is still cropping.

Step 3: Understand the rows

Each row is a product, grouped by what it does.

The main feeds

  • Bio-Grow: the growth feed. On the chart it carries on into flowering, alongside the bloom feed.
  • Fish-Mix: an alternative growth feed. BioBizz are clear that Bio-Grow and Fish-Mix do the same job, so use one or the other, not both. If you use Fish-Mix in veg, switch to Bio-Grow when flowering starts.
  • Bio-Bloom: the flowering and fruiting feed, used through the flowering weeks.

Boosters and extras

  • Top-Max: a flowering stimulator used with Bio-Bloom.
  • Root-Juice and Microbes: for rooting and soil life, mainly early on. Note that Microbes is measured in grams, not millilitres.
  • Bio-Heaven, Acti-Vera and Alg-A-Mic: optional boosters and tonics.

You do not need every bottle on the chart. Most growers do perfectly well with Bio-Grow and Bio-Bloom, adding Top-Max once they are comfortable. If a product is not in your cupboard, simply skip that row.

Step 4: Mix your feed

All doses on the chart are per litre of water. So if the chart says 2ml and you are filling a 10 litre watering can, you add 20ml.

  1. Fill your can or tank with the amount of water you need.
  2. Find this week's column on the right chart for your soil.
  3. Add each product one at a time, stirring between each.
  4. Check the pH. The BioBizz chart does not give EC or pH targets, but organic soil growers still find it worth measuring. A simple pH pen or test kit from our meters and testers range will do the job.
  5. Water as normal, letting the pot dry back a little between waterings.

As a rough reference, our product pages list Bio-Grow and Bio-Bloom at 2 to 4ml per litre and Top-Max at 1 to 4ml per litre depending on stage. The chart tells you where in that range to be each week. Always follow the label.

Step 5: Start low and watch your plants

BioBizz's own advice is that it is always better to be modest than to add more, and we agree. Organic feeds build up in the soil over time, so a little too much each week soon adds up. Start at the lower doses, watch how your plants respond, and only move up if they look hungry. Pale lower leaves can be a sign they want more; burnt, crispy leaf tips usually mean too much.

Common mistakes we see

  • Using the Light-Mix chart for plants in All-Mix.
  • Running Bio-Grow and Fish-Mix together.
  • Counting flowering weeks from the day the seed was sown rather than when flowers appear.
  • Following an old chart saved from years ago.
  • Feeding seedlings straight into All-Mix. BioBizz say it is generally too strong for delicate seedlings and cuttings, so start them in a lighter mix.

FAQs

How often should I feed with BioBizz?

Use the chart dose in your normal watering, then let the soil dry back a little before the next one. In a strong soil like All-Mix you may only need plain water for the first few weeks after potting on. Follow the chart for your soil.

Can I use the BioBizz chart in coco?

Yes. BioBizz group coco with Light-Mix, so use the Light-Mix / Coco-Mix chart.

What if my plants need more than 8 weeks of flowering?

Many crops do. Keep feeding at the late-flower rates while the plant is still flowering or fruiting, and use plain water for the final week before you finish. If you are unsure, ask us.

Do I need to check EC with BioBizz?

The official chart does not give EC targets, and many organic soil growers just follow the doses and watch their plants. Checking pH is still useful, especially if your tap water is hard.
