Visiting Black Country Systems from Birmingham: Directions, Parking and Opening Hours
Black Country Systems is at Unit 2 Black Lake, West Bromwich, B70 0PJ, about six miles north-west of Birmingham city centre and a couple of minutes off junction 1 of the M5. This page is the practical stuff for anyone planning a visit: how to get here, where to park, when we are open and what to expect when you walk in. If you want to see what we sell first, start with our hydroponics shop in Birmingham homepage or go straight to all products.
Opening hours
Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm. Sunday 10am to 3pm. Bank holidays vary, so give us a ring on 0121 553 7872 or WhatsApp us before you set off. Regular customers can arrange out-of-hours collection.
Getting here by car
From Birmingham, come out on the A41 through Handsworth to West Bromwich, or take the M5 to junction 1 and follow signs for West Bromwich and Wednesbury. Black Lake is on the north side of West Bromwich, towards Wednesbury; put B70 0PJ into your sat nav and it brings you straight to the unit. From Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley it is a short run in on the A41 or A4031.
There is free parking directly outside the unit, with room to load bulky items such as tents, lights and 50 litre bags straight into the car.
Getting here by tram, train or bus
We are a short walk from the Black Lake tram stop on West Midlands Metro Line 1, the Birmingham to Wolverhampton line. From Birmingham, board at Grand Central or Bull Street towards Wolverhampton and get off at Black Lake, one stop after Dudley Street Guns Village; the ride is around 20 minutes and trams run every six to eight minutes during the day. From Wolverhampton and Wednesbury it is the same line in the other direction, one stop after Wednesbury Great Western Street.
By bus, the 44 (West Bromwich to Hill Top and Harvills Hawthorn) and the 79 (Wolverhampton to West Bromwich via Wednesbury) both stop at Black Lake, next to the tram stop. From West Bromwich bus station either one is a few minutes. West Bromwich has no mainline railway station; the nearest are Sandwell & Dudley and Smethwick Galton Bridge, both with a short onward tram or bus connection.
What to expect in the shop
A proper, stocked hydroponics shop rather than a counter in front of a warehouse. The main ranges are on the shelves so you can compare them side by side: LED grow lights, grow tents, extraction fans and carbon filters, nutrients from Canna, BioBizz, Shogun, Mills, Dutch Pro, Plagron and Monkey, and coco and soil in 50 litre bags. If something is not on the shelf we can usually have it in for the next working day.
Bring your feed chart, a photo of your tent or a leaf you are worried about. Most of what we do in the shop is talking through set-ups and problems with our experts, and we would rather you left with the right thing than the expensive thing.
Order online, collect in store
If you know what you want, order on the website and choose collection at checkout. We will message you when it is ready, within 1 hour for items in stock, and there is no delivery charge. Everything else ships UK-wide, free over £94.99, in plain packaging.
