Description
Acoustic ducting is insulated, flexible aluminium ducting built to cut the noise your extractor fan makes, not just move air. Inside the aluminium outer, a layer of fibreglass insulation is wrapped in an acoustically transparent plastic liner and held by a perforated inner duct, so sound is absorbed by the insulation rather than bouncing straight down the tube. The result is a noticeably quieter grow tent, grow room or loft extraction run than standard ducting, without losing airflow.
What it's for
Inline fans are at their loudest where air leaves the fan and travels along the duct. Swapping standard ducting for acoustic flexible ducting soaks up much of that noise, which makes it the go-to choice when your grow tent or room sits near living space, a bedroom or a neighbour's wall.
Sizes available
Our acoustic ducting comes in 10 metre lengths in five diameters: 5", 6", 8", 10" and 12".
How to choose the right diameter
Match the diameter to the duct connection on your extractor fan and carbon filter, so air flows freely without a restriction. If you're upgrading from standard ducting, fit the same diameter you're running now unless you're also changing fan size. Not sure which size your fan takes? Check the spec sheet or give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
What to pair it with
- An inline extractor fan such as the RVK inline extractor fan.
- Combi ducting for intake runs, where noise matters less.
- Jubilee duct clips to secure every joint.
Getting the most from it
For the biggest drop in noise, fit acoustic ducting on both the intake and the exhaust side of the fan, not just one. Keep runs as short and as straight as practical, because every bend adds resistance and can flatten the duct slightly, which cuts into both airflow and the noise reduction. Support longer runs so the duct isn't hanging on the fan or hood alone, and avoid sharp creases when you're fitting it. For more on exactly what causes extraction noise and how to cut it further, read our guide to acoustic ducting and grow room noise.

Acoustic ducting FAQs
Do I need acoustic ducting on both ends of my fan?
You'll get the biggest noise reduction by fitting it on both the intake and exhaust sides. Using it on just one side still helps, but some fan noise will carry through the uninsulated run.
Will acoustic ducting reduce my airflow?
Used correctly (full size, no sharp bends, no crushing), acoustic ducting performs close to standard ducting of the same diameter. Kinks and tight bends are what cause airflow loss, on any ducting.
What size acoustic ducting do I need?
Match it to your extractor fan's duct connection size. We stock 5", 6", 8", 10" and 12", each in a 10 metre length.
Acoustic or combi ducting?
Combi ducting is the budget-friendly option for intake runs and setups where noise isn't a concern. Acoustic ducting is the one to choose for extraction runs near living space.
