Quick answer: The Monkey Nutrients feed chart is a 13-column table: four veg weeks, eight bloom weeks and a flush, with every dose given per 10 litres of water. You pick your medium (soil, coco or hydro) and one of two bloom programmes, PK 9/18 or Resin, and Monkey are clear that you never run both. Grow A+B carries you through veg, Bloom A+B through flower, with Stress added first every time, Root Shoot early on, Boost from day 5 of bloom and your chosen PK or Resin programme in mid to late bloom. The chart also gives an EC target for every week, which is the number to follow.
Monkey is one of the most concentrated ranges we sell, which is exactly why people get the chart wrong: the doses look small, and dosing it like a weaker brand is the quickest way to burn a crop. Here is how to read it properly.
Where to find the official chart
Monkey publish the chart on their own website as a web page rather than a PDF, with tabs for Soil, Coco and Hydroponic and a switch between the PK 9/18 and Resin programmes. There is also a feed calculator on the same site that works the doses out for your tank size at a light, medium or heavy strength. Always use the current version online rather than a photo saved on your phone. If you want us to go through it with you, bring it in.
Step 1: Choose your medium and your programme
- Medium: Soil, Coco or Hydroponic. Monkey say feeding is the same in DWC and other hydro systems, and that soil growers should follow their plants and adjust within the chart ranges.
- Programme: PK 9/18 or Resin. PK 9/18 runs for three weeks in mid bloom; Resin runs from bloom week 3 to the end. In Monkey's own words, choose one programme and do not combine PK 9/18 and Resin. In our shop the Resin programme uses Monkey Resinator.
Step 2: Understand the columns
Veg weeks 1 to 4
The growing stage, on Grow A+B. If your plants need longer in veg, stay on the week 4 column. EC targets climb from 1.2 in week 1 to 1.5 in week 4.
Bloom weeks 1 to 8
Week 1 starts when you switch to 12 hours of light or when flowers and fruit begin to form. Bloom A+B replaces Grow A+B. EC climbs from 1.6 in week 1 to a peak of 2.2 in week 7, then drops to 1.9 in week 8.
Flush
Plain water. Monkey list no nutrient amounts for this column, and they are specific that Mag Cal and enzyme products are not used in the flush week either.
The chart also carries a second, higher set of EC figures for sealed or CO2-enriched rooms, plus temperature and humidity targets for each week (20 to 27°C throughout, humidity easing from 70 to 85% in veg down to 40 to 45% at the end). Use the standard EC row unless you are running CO2.
Step 3: The chart, week by week
This is Monkey's Coco chart, in millilitres per 10 litres of water. Grow and Bloom figures are for each part, so 15ml means 15ml of A and 15ml of B. Divide everything by ten for a 1 litre figure.
| Week | Grow A+B (each) | Bloom A+B (each) | Boost | Stress | Root Shoot | PK 9/18 programme | Resin programme | EC target |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Veg 1 | 10-20 | - | - | 2 | 2 | - | - | 1.2 |
| Veg 2 | 10-20 | - | - | 2 | 2 | - | - | 1.3 |
| Veg 3 | 10-20 | - | - | 2 | 3 | - | - | 1.4 |
| Veg 4 | 10-20 | - | - | 2 | 3 | - | - | 1.5 |
| Bloom 1 | - | 15-25 | 10-20 (from day 5) | 2 | 3 | - | - | 1.6 |
| Bloom 2 | - | 15-25 | 10 | 2 | 3 | - | - | 1.7 |
| Bloom 3 | - | 20-30 | 20 | 2 | 3 | - | 10 | 1.8 |
| Bloom 4 | - | 20-30 | 20 | 2 | 3 | 2.5 | 10 | 1.9 |

Step 4: Understand the rows
Base feeds
- Grow A+B in veg and Bloom A+B in bloom. Always equal amounts of A and B: add A, stir, then B. The chart figure is per part, not the total. Both are designed for UK hard and soft water, so there is no separate soft water chart.
Every week
- Stress: 2ml per 10 litres every week from veg 1 to bloom 8, and it always goes in first. Monkey print "always add Stress first and mix thoroughly before adding the rest of the nutrients" on every product page. It can also be used as a foliar spray at 1ml per litre every two to three weeks.
Roots
- Root Shoot: 2ml per 10 litres in veg weeks 1 and 2, 3ml from veg 3 to bloom 5, then stop. Do not carry it into the weeks with no dose.
Flowering
- Boost: starts on day 5 of bloom week 1 at 10 to 20ml per 10 litres, 10ml in week 2, then 20ml from week 3 to week 8.
- PK 9/18: 2.5ml per 10 litres in bloom weeks 4, 5 and 6 only. Note how small that dose is.
- Resinator (the Resin programme): 10ml per 10 litres from bloom week 3 to bloom week 8, used instead of PK 9/18.
- Monkey Magic: not on the current chart. Follow the label and treat it as an alternative bloom additive rather than stacking it on top of Boost and a PK.
Extras not on the chart
- Mag Cal: 1 to 2ml per litre when you need it, which usually means soft water, RO water or coco. Never in the flush week.
Step 5: Mix your feed and check EC and pH
- Fill your tank or can with water.
- Add Stress first and mix thoroughly.
- Add Grow or Bloom part A, stir, then the same amount of part B, stir. Add the parts separately to the water, never to each other.
- Add the week's additives one at a time, stirring between each.
- Measure the EC and compare it with the week's target. Monkey say to measure EC before adjusting pH, and to check both last. The doses are guidelines; the EC target is what you are aiming for.
- Adjust pH to 5.5 to 6.5. Monkey's general guide is 5.5 to 6.2 for coco, hydro and DWC and 6.0 to 6.5 for soil. A pH and EC pen from our meters and testers range is essential with a range this concentrated.
Monkey themselves say the volumes are approximate and to use a millilitre syringe or measuring jug. With doses of 2 and 2.5ml per 10 litres, a kitchen teaspoon will not do. Wear gloves and eye protection with the Grow and Bloom concentrates; the labels carry a hazard warning.
Step 6: Start at the bottom of the range
Where the chart gives a range, such as 10 to 20ml for Grow A+B, start at the low end and let your EC meter and your plants tell you whether to move up. Concentrated feeds forgive under-feeding far more than over-feeding. Pale lower leaves mean they want more; burnt tips and clawing leaves mean back off.
Common mistakes we see
- Running PK 9/18 and Resinator together. Pick one programme.
- Dosing Grow or Bloom per litre when the chart is per 10 litres.
- Reading the A+B figure as the total rather than per part.
- Adding Stress after the base feed instead of first.
- Keeping Root Shoot going into late bloom.
- Adding Mag Cal or enzymes in the flush week.
FAQs
Is there a soft water version of the Monkey chart?
No. Grow A+B and Bloom A+B are formulated for UK hard and soft water. If your water is very soft or you use RO, Mag Cal at 1 to 2ml per litre is the adjustment.
Is the chart the same for hydro and DWC?
Monkey say yes, feeding is the same in DWC and other hydro systems. Use the Hydroponic tab on their chart.
When does Boost start?
Day 5 of bloom week 1, not the first day of flower.
PK 9/18 or Resinator?
PK 9/18 is a short, three-week PK push in weeks 4 to 6. Resinator runs for six weeks from week 3. Both work; the point is to choose one. If you are unsure which suits your crop, ask us.
