Quick answer: There is no official week by week Athena feed chart in the way Canna or Shogun publish one. The Athena Blended Line is a simple two part liquid system: Grow A&B through the vegetative stage, then Bloom A&B once flowering starts, with Athena PK added from mid flower. Athena Balance sets up your water and pH before you add anything else, and Athena Cal Mag is there for soft or RO water. For exact millilitre per litre doses and EC targets, Athena publish their own feed chart on their packaging and website, and that is the one we tell customers to follow. This guide explains how the system fits together and what each bottle is for, so the chart makes sense when you open it.
We get asked about Athena a lot in the shop, partly because growers coming from a big printed chart like Shogun's or Mills' expect Athena to work the same way, and it does not. Athena deliberately keep the Blended Line down to a handful of bottles.
Why we are not printing an Athena dosing table here
Ranges like Shogun or Mills build a detailed week by week table with EC targets into their own marketing, and we can check figures against that chart. Athena's own printed feed chart, updated directly by Athena, is the definitive source for exact ml per litre doses and timing. Rather than copy out a table we cannot verify against the current edition, we explain what each product does and how the stages fit together, then point you at Athena's own chart, or in to see us, for the precise numbers.
Step 1: The two base feed stages
Grow A&B for the vegetative stage
Athena Blended Line Grow A&B is the base feed for vegetative growth. It is a two part liquid, used in equal amounts of A and B, and it is built to deliver the nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and micronutrients a plant needs to put on strong stalks, roots and leafy growth before it flowers. Athena's own guidance is to dilute A and B separately before combining them, and to check the feed chart or your EC meter for the right strength at your plant's stage and size. Start Grow A&B as soon as roots are established and run it right through to the switch to flowering.
Bloom A&B for flowering
Once flowering begins, switch to Athena Blended Line Bloom A&B. It is the same two part format, again used in equal parts, but reformulated for the higher phosphorus and potassium a flowering or fruiting plant needs. Athena's product page gives a guideline of around 2 to 7ml of each part per US gallon, which works out at roughly 0.5 to 1.8ml per litre, rising as flowering progresses, and the same note applies: dilute each part separately in water before combining, never pour the concentrates together. Begin Bloom A&B at the first signs of flowering and continue through to harvest.
Step 2: Athena PK, the bloom booster
Athena PK is the Blended Line's phosphorus and potassium booster, with an analysis of 0-4-5. It is designed to sit alongside Bloom A&B in mid to late flower, adding the extra P and K a plant wants at peak flowering without pulling the calcium and magnesium out of balance. Athena's own advice is to follow the dose on the label or the current Athena feed chart for your week, so this is one to measure against that chart rather than guess.
Step 3: Athena Balance, for your water and pH
Athena Balance is a potassium silicate pH regulator, and it is the first thing that goes into your water, before any base feed or booster. Athena's guidance is roughly 0.25 to 1ml per litre, depending on how hard or soft your water is and how much pH correction it needs. It buffers the solution so the pH does not drift as much once everything else is mixed in, and the added silicate also helps with stem strength and stress resistance. It works across RO, mains and well water, and across hydro, coco, rockwool and soil.
Step 4: Athena Cal Mag, for soft or RO water
If you run reverse osmosis or naturally soft tap water, or you are growing in coco or rockwool, Athena Cal Mag is worth having on the shelf. It supplies the calcium and magnesium that soft water and inert media do not provide on their own, at a typical rate of around 2.5ml per US gallon, adjusted for your water and the Athena feed chart. Add it to plain water before your base nutrients, the same way as Balance, so it has fully dissolved before anything else goes in.
Step 5: Athena Cleanse, for the irrigation system
Athena Cleanse is not a feed at all. It is a plant safe cleaning solution, based on hypochlorous acid, that growers run through drip lines, media and reservoirs to stop mineral scale and biofilm building up, which matters most in coco and hydro systems on a dripper or dosing setup. Athena give a routine maintenance rate of around 2 to 5ml per US gallon, roughly 0.5 to 1.3ml per litre, and a stronger flush rate of around 5 to 10ml per US gallon for a deeper clean. It is never mixed into a feeding solution: flush with it, then rinse through with plain water before you go back to nutrients.
Step 6: Athena Pro Fade, to finish
For the final two to three weeks before harvest, some growers switch their base feed for Athena Pro Fade, a nitrogen free finishing product. Removing nitrogen at the end helps a plant stop pushing new growth and focus on ripening, while Pro Fade still supplies calcium and micronutrients so you avoid the deficiencies that come with a plain water flush. Athena's guidance is around 10 to 16ml per US gallon, roughly 2.6 to 4ml per litre, used in place of your normal base feed at the same point in the schedule.
Mixing order and checking EC and pH
Athena's own instructions follow a consistent order across the Blended Line:
- Start with plain water and add Athena Balance first, so your base pH is stable before anything else goes in.
- Add Athena Cal Mag next if your water is soft, RO, or you are growing in coco or rockwool.
- Add your base feed, Grow A and B or Bloom A and B, diluting each part separately before combining them. Never pour concentrated parts together.
- Add Athena PK from mid flower, following the current Athena feed chart or the product label for the week's dose.
- Check EC and pH once everything is mixed in, and adjust gradually rather than chasing a number with a big dose. A meter from our meters and testers range makes this straightforward.
Build up gradually if you are new to the range, watching how the plants respond before moving to a stronger mix.
Common mistakes we see
- Looking for a printed week by week Athena chart on a par with Shogun or Canna. It does not exist in that format; Athena's own chart is the one to use for exact doses.
- Pouring Grow A or Bloom A straight on top of the B part, rather than diluting each separately first.
- Mixing Athena Cleanse into a feeding solution instead of flushing with it on its own.
- Skipping Athena Balance on RO or very soft water and then fighting pH drift all week.
- Carrying on with a full strength base feed into the last two or three weeks instead of switching to Pro Fade or easing off.
FAQs
What is the Athena Blended Line?
It is Athena's liquid two part nutrient system. Grow A&B covers the vegetative stage, Bloom A&B covers flowering, and Athena PK is the bloom booster added from mid flower.
Is there an official Athena feed chart?
Yes, Athena publish one on their own packaging and website with exact ml per litre doses and timings. We do not reproduce a copy of it here, since we cannot guarantee you are seeing the current edition; check it against Athena's own source, or bring your plan in and we will go through it with you.
Do I need Athena Balance if I am on tap water?
Many growers still use it, because it buffers pH as well as adjusting it, which means less drift during the week. If your tap water is already fairly hard and stable, you may need less of it than someone on RO water.
Can I use Athena in soil, coco and hydro?
Yes. The Blended Line is designed to work across hydroponics, coco, rockwool and soil, with the same products throughout.
What does Athena PK do?
It adds extra phosphorus and potassium in mid to late flower, on top of Bloom A&B, to support flower development without unbalancing the calcium and magnesium already in the feed.
Do I need Athena Cal Mag as well as Balance?
They do different jobs. Balance is mainly about pH and silicate, while Cal Mag replaces calcium and magnesium that soft or RO water and inert media like coco do not supply. Many growers on soft water use both.
