About Ducting & Fittings
Good ducting is what turns a fan and filter into a working extraction system. We stock flexible ducting in 4" to 12" and all the metal fittings you need to join, split, reduce and seal your runs, so air goes where you want it with as little loss as possible.
How to choose ducting and fittings
Pick the right ducting. Combi flexible ducting has a PVC outer, an aluminium inner and a steel wire helix, and handles temperatures up to 140°C. It comes in 5m and 10m lengths from 4" to 12", from £8. Acoustic ducting has a perforated inner layer and fibreglass insulation that limits noise breaking out of the duct and acts as a fan silencer. For the best results, use it on both the intake and exhaust sides of your fan.
Match your sizes. Fan, filter and ducting should share a diameter. Where they do not, a metal duct reducer (12"-10", 10"-8" or 8"-6") joins them neatly.
Split or branch your run. The metal Y-piece (8", 10" or 12") splits one run into two, so a single fan can extract from two tents. Its smooth Y shape gives better airflow than a T-piece. The equal T-piece (10" or 12") makes a simple branch on spiral ducting.
Seal every joint. Use flexi duct connectors (male for ducting, female for fan or filter spigots), foam-lined Fast Clamps for an airtight, vibration-damping seal, jubilee clips that adjust from 4" to 12", and metallised X-weave tape (72mm x 45m).
As a general rule of thumb, keep runs as short and straight as you can and pull flexible ducting taut. Every bend and sag costs airflow.

Ducting FAQs
Combi or acoustic ducting?
Combi is the cost-effective choice for moving air. Acoustic costs more but noticeably cuts noise, so it is worth it if the setup is near living space.
How do I join ducting to my fan?
Slide the ducting over the fan spigot, tighten a jubilee clip over it and wrap the join with X-weave tape.
Can I run two tents from one fan?
Yes. Use a Y-piece and make sure the fan has enough capacity for both spaces combined.
